In the next steps, we’ll transform this base into a talking papercraft.Create Mouth: Fold Flaps, Add StringTo create the mouth of our origami chatterbox, follow these steps:Fold Flaps:Fold the left and right flaps of the square base outward.Fold the top and bottom flaps of the square base inward.Unfold the top and bottom flaps, but keep the left and right flaps folded outward.Fold the top and bottom flaps inward again, but this time, fold them along the diagonal creases created in the previous step.Add String:Cut two pieces of string or thread, each about 10-12 inches long.Attach one end of each string to the top corners of the chatterbox.Thread the other end of each string through the holes created by the diagonal folds in the top flaps.Pull the strings taut and tie them together at the bottom of the chatterbox.With the mouth complete, our chatterbox is ready to come to life.Add Details: Eyes, Nose, HairTo add personality and charm to our origami chatterbox, let’s add some details:Eyes:Cut two small circles out of black or colored paper.Glue the circles onto the front of the chatterbox, positioning them appropriately for the eyes.Nose:Cut a small triangle out of black or colored paper.Fold the triangle in half lengthwise.Glue the folded triangle onto the front of the chatterbox, positioning it below the eyes for the nose.Hair:Cut a strip of paper about 1 inch wide and 3-4 inches long.Fold the strip of paper in half lengthwise.Cut thin slits along the folded edge of the strip, creating a fringe.Glue the fringed strip onto the top of the chatterbox for the hair.With these details added, our origami chatterbox is transformed into a lively and expressive character.Attach String: Secure to CornersTo ensure that the strings move the mouth smoothly and securely, we need to attach them properly to the corners of the chatterbox:Step 1: Prepare the CornersFold the bottom corners of the chatterbox inward along the diagonal creases.Unfold the corners, leaving behind a small crease.Step 2: Attach the StringsTake one of the strings attached to the top corners of the chatterbox.Insert the string into the crease created in Step 1 on one of the bottom corners.Pull the string through the crease and out the other side.Repeat this process for the other bottom corner and the remaining string.Step 3: Secure the StringsTie a knot in each string close to the bottom corners of the chatterbox.Trim any excess string.With the strings securely attached, our chatterbox is ready to come to life when we pull the strings.Pull Strings: Make It Talk!The moment we’ve all been waiting for!
