SYNTH ANATOMY uses affiliation & partner programs (big red buttons) to finance a part of the activity. If you use these, you support the website. Thanks! XILS-Lab has today released PolyKB III V3.5, a significant update for its RSF Polykobol II Synthesizer emulation. The new update features a new natural sounding reverb, an improved preset manager, new GUI/UI and more.If you are interested in the particular sound of Polykobol Synthesizer and do not have the money to buy any hardware (original or Black Corporation Kijimi) then I recommend this emulation. For a limited time, you can save 45% OFF the regular price on PolyKB III V3.5 Update only on the developer website.XILS-lab is proud to announce availability of PolyKB III v3.5 — an authentic-sounding simulation of the ultra-rare RSF Polykobol II ‘white whale’ (which, sadly, saw the demise of its innovative creators, completely out of touch with 1983’s arrival of Yamaha’s digital dominance-triggering DX7 super-seller), albeit one on software steroids and now lifted to heightened levels of expressivity and musicality, thanks to several significant improvements over previous versions New In PolyKB III V3.5In version 3.5, you can now freely draw a modulation PATH for each note in the Voice & Space XY squares. You can create some precise sweeps of all kinds or very fast Filter/Envelope/Oscillators modulations for each note. Or everything in between, and get a wild range of new sounds, that you can tailor in the deepest detail to adapt them to context, and even invent new playing techniques.more effects: a natural sound reverb has been added to the existing effectsnew GUI/UI: The GUI has been revamped: No more knob shadows which made the serigraphies sometimes difficult to read, and the Tab selector has been redrawn from scratch, as well as the tabs content. Synthesis blocks are now clearly separated by grey lines to make the unit more intuitive to use.new preset manager: With hundreds to thousands of presets on board, content management is quickly becoming a key point of a fully enjoyable experience when playing synthesizers. Following Stix and the Xils 4, PolyKB 3.5 has inherited the new Xils One Window integrated Preset Manager : Find the right preset in seconds, create your own tags; multiselection/multi-tagging, export/import & manage banks, projects, or selections : Everything is there to make your work easier, faster, and more productive.small other detailsnew modulations targetsfixing a number of small bugsXils Lab PolyKB III V3.5 is available now in a special introductory offer with a 45% OFF discount. Some people look for "similar timbre" as the original hardware synths. I personally look for the internally chaotic nature that I'm so used to from the days I had zillion analog synths. For my ears, almost all "analog modelling" synths fail to excite me in that department - arturia included (and I LOVE arturia pigments and many of their effects). That's where XILS excel. BTW, I couldn't care less how "similar" the tone is. It's the "internal motion" of the signal that does it to me. These days, whenever I need analog synth stuff I just use XILS (and I own almost everything that moves...)EDIT: Just to remove any doubts, I have absolutely zero affiliation with XILS and I bought all their synths paying full price...

That I own. We may just be attracted by other nuances, and that's fair enough... BTW, I'm not looking for whether it *generally sounds* exactly like the analog synth I had in the past. I'm listening more for whether the oscillators and/or filters and/or envelopes behave "less stable" / "more chaotic", which makes the instrument more expressive for me - which may or may not be as important for others. The pulse wave in Xils Syn’x 2 is much closer to hw Synthex than Cherry's, so it's not really true that Cherry's Elka is "far better".It's got a nicer GUI, that's all. I'm inclined to agree that XILS sounds top notch. It's a shame their stuff is so buggy and UI so uninspiring. I've just downloaded the demo for Chor'X, XILS 505, and XILS V+... I can't seem to make any parameter changes to 505 and V+, and the UI for Chor'X doesn't work sometimes. I LOVE the sound though. This thing is great, and has stopped me from a) trying to hunt down a vintage Kobol, b) bankrupting myself on a Black Corp version, and c) checking B's press releases on a daily basis.Love the xils emus.j, Here for the gear Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 26 🎧 15 years Hi every one. Thanks for all your comments and kind words.About bugs or issues, feel free to contact us directly.
